My Mother together with the Ancient Egyptians have always sworn by the medical properties of honey, but just recently I too have become a convert.
I cut my finger very badly doing some DIY (last time I work that hard in the house without help!) and literally thought my finger might fall off. That is the middle finger on my right hand which you use for everything. Anyway, the sight of blood makes me pass out and I thought I might be bleeding to death until I realised that a large glass of wine hovering between my lips was bringing me back too life and out of shock.
Well, back to the honey. I remembered my Mother telling me that she had burnt herself and covered the burn with honey and it was healed within 2 days. My poor finger was so painful, swollen and cut that I felt I had a choice between a visit to the doctor and stitches (I loathe needles as much as blood, perhaps because they so often go together) or cover it with honey a massive plaster and see what it look liked like in the morning.
It really is incredible, not only has the swelling reduced, the skin seems to be knitting together without any infection under it and most importantly I am typing with it now, which I never thought would be possible.
So if you have a small wound that is a little infected, say a thorn or cut (don’t substitute for a hospital visit if that is what you need!) and dare to try it I think you might be ready for a nice surprise.
Apparently you need to use 10+ if you want to read more about the properties of the honey visit this site http://www.manukahoney.co.uk/
